Tuition fee payment: proof of paid tuition fees

Last modified on 13-07-2026 15:53
Already paying statutory tuition fees at another institution? Then you don't need to pay twice. Let Studielink know that you want to pay using a Proof of Paid Tuition Fees (Bewijs Betaald Collegegeld, BBC).

When can you use a BBC?

This applies in two situations:

  • You're enrolled at two institutions and already pay statutory tuition fees. You're enrolled at the UvA for a Bachelor's, Master's or pre-Master's, or if you follow an elective here (optional course in Studielink) and you already pay the statutory tuition fee at another institution.
  • You're a minor student and pay the institutional rate elsewhere. You're enrolled at the UvA as an elective student and pay the institutional rate at the other institution.

Please note: if the amount you've already paid is lower than the tuition fee you owe the UvA, you'll need to transfer the difference to the UvA yourself (see paying tuition fees by bank transfer).

If either situation above applies to you, follow these steps in StudielinkExternal link:

  1. Go to the 'Payment' tab and click 'Fill in payment details'.
  2. Enter the country where your bank is based.
  3. Select the payment option 'Certificate of paid tuition fees'.
  4. Select the institution where you'll request the BBC: this is the institution where you already pay tuition fees.
  5. Give your consent: Studielink will request the BBC on your behalf from that institution and forward it to the UvA.

Good to know

  • You can only request a BBC once you're fully enrolled at the other institution and are entering your payment details for the same academic year at the UvA.
  • If your other institution can't yet exchange a digital BBC with the UvA, Studielink will let you know. In that case, request the BBC directly from that institution; they will then send it to the UvA themselves.
